| The brewery’s renowned Latitude Pilsner won Gold in the Bottled Beers category of the 2008 National Beer Competition, organised by the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA), while its Wayfarer seasonal cask ale took silver in the Speciality Beers section.
Both brews qualified for the event, held this week in York, after taking the top spots in their respective categories at last year’s SIBA Scotland Beer Competition. Atlas is owned by the Cawdor-based Sinclair Breweries Ltd, which also operates the Orkney Brewery. Norman Sinclair, managing director of Sinclair Breweries Ltd, said: “We’re absolutely delighted to come away from such an important competition with a first and second place. “Although we’re always confident about the quality of our products, there’s some very stiff competition out there and we take nothing for granted. “We were thrilled to win at last year’s Scottish event, but success like this at a UK level is something we’re particularly proud of. It greatly increases the profile of the brewery and gives all of our team a great boost.” Taken from: www.lochaber-news.co.uk |
