| Beer drinkers in the Midlands are in for a treat this Christmas… the treat comes in the form of ‘Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Stocking’!Â
Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Stocking is Wye Valley Brewery’s cask offering for December, a 4.3% abv beer described by head brewer Jimmy Swan as ‘a chestnut brown beer brewed with seasonal spices to give a rich warming flavour’. The beer will be available to free houses throughout the Midlands during December and is likely to spread a little Christmas Cheer! The seasonal spices in this beer make it the perfect ingredient for a steak and ale pie, and if you are lucky enough to have a little spare, enjoy this with the meal! If you have a sweet tooth indulge in Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Stocking with home made mince pies. Also, available at this time of year in the off-trade is Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Ale. This 6.0% bottled beer is a strong ruby ale bursting with rich malt flavours and hop bitterness. Beer & Food Matching: What better time of year than Christmas to match an appropriate traditional style beer with our festive fare! Vernon Amor, Managing Director of Wye Valley Brewery offers his perfect combinations this Christmas. Said Vernon ‘For the turkey or chicken, Dorothy Goodbody’s Golden Ale, a crisp, slightly zesty ale, followed by Dorothy Goodbody’s Christmas Ale – a rich, ruby style beer – to complement the richness of the traditional plum pudding’. And, instead of port with the cheeseboard, Vernon recommends Dorothy Goodbody’s Wholesome Stout, the current CAMRA Champion Bottle-Conditioned Beer of Britain.
