Everards Pub Bares All For Charity

| Plucky pub regulars have put aside their inhibitions by bearing all for a charity calendar that promises to raise more than just money for local blind charity, Vista.Â
The calendar sees regulars and staff from Everards pub, The Aberdale in Leicester, in various discreet poses around the pub and is now on sale in Vista shops, the local hair salon and the pub itself. Licensee, Lynn Morris decided to put the calendar together after the idea kept coming up in conversation in the pub but was never taken too seriously. She said: “It had been mentioned before and when we got together again, I decided we really had to get it organised this time. All those who took part had fun. There are some suggestive poses, but it is all in good taste. “We chose Vista as our nominated charity this year as it is locally based so the community can associate themselves with the work it does and they also get to see what their money contributes to. “Those that took part all have to sell at least 20 of the calendars to get the ball rolling as we want to generate as much profit for the charity as we can.†Everards marketing manager, Erika Hardy, said: “The Aberdale have come up with a unique and fun way of raising funds for their local charity, Vista and it shows that the licensees have a great relationship with their customers. “Everards is committed to giving licensees the support to inject a part of their personalities into where they work and the Aberdale is a fantastic example of this.†The calendar has been funded by local sponsors who have each bought a month and have helped cover the costs of production and printing. All proceeds from the calendar will go to the charity, Vista, and with the calendars priced at £5 and 1,000 ordered, the pub is hoping to raise £5,000. Vista is an independent Leicester charity that offers reactive services to the 6,000 visually impaired people in the area. These services include personal care, activity groups and befriending schemes. Lynn Morris and her husband Brian have been licensees at the Aberdale for two and half years and recently completed a refurbishment together with Everards brewery, which saw a new entrance, toilets and carpets brighten up the surroundings. An enclosed external drinking area was also created to the front of the pub.
