| The licensee of an Everards pub in Mountsorrel has shown entrepreneurial spirit by making additional money through the brewery’s bounty scheme.
Licensee of the Lindens, Jon Broughton recommended friends Jim Hutton and Tina Clark to take a tenancy with other another Everards pub the Plough in Littlethorpe. The Everards bounty scheme has been running for four years and anyone from Everards’ employees to members of the public can take part. Details of suitable candidates can be sent to the recruitment team at Everards and if the candidate is successful in becoming a licensee, the individual responsible for the introduction receives £3,000 as a reward from the company. Jon said: “Jim is a good friend of mine and he asked for my advice on how to invest his money wisely. I really wanted to help him out so I recommended he run his own Everards pub. The last thing I expected was a £3,000 bounty, so that was a nice surprise, which will come in use to start refurbishing my pub.” Janet Sheppard, HR manager for Everards, said: “We’re always looking for talented people who might be interested in running their own business in one of our pubs. Previous experience of the pub and licensed trade is beneficial, but not always necessary, as we have a comprehensive training and support programme which is designed to meet the needs of each individual.” “Any member of the public who knows someone, such as a relative or friend, who they think would make a great pub licensee should first of all obtain their permission to put their name forward. Once they have this, they should then pass details on to the recruitment team at Everards and we’ll take it from there, it’s as easy as that.” Jon will be investing his prize back into the Lindens, paying for a general refurbishment. The pub will have new furniture in-doors and for the garden, as well as an overall garden makeover. To nominate a potential licensee, please contact the Recruitment Team at Everards Brewery on 0800 0564111. Everards Brewery has a pub estate of 166 houses around the Midlands, all of which are run under the Everards banner as individual businesses by the licensees. The pubs vary widely from city centre venues to traditional village pubs. |
