PJ and his Pies Takes On Batemans Robin Hood Pub

PJ’s Pie Pub is a brand developed by former Vulcan Pilot, interpreter and Arms Control Inspector, Mike Pichel-Juan (P-J). He has teamed up with Lincolnshire Brewer and Retailer, Batemans and has recently taken on its Robin Hood pub based in Boston, Lincolnshire. Using locally sourced produce, P-J has developed a range of gourmet pies so that he could run his previous pub single handed. He developed such a reputation for his pies that people travelled as far afield as York, Leicester and Cambridge to sample them. PJ’s Pies’ includes deer, duck, salmon and parsley all served with a richly sautéed potato, which is his own secret recipe.

Helen Barton joined PJ romantically and in business eighteen months ago and has now extended the menu to include the most delicious traditional puddings such as treacle tart and a wide range of fruit crumbles.

Situated just off Boston high street, with secure parking for cars and a garden, the pub has been undergoing a thorough refurbishment. The comfortable bar with its luxurious seating is a wonderful place for friends to meet. PJ says: “The dining room, with my extraordinary collection of Air Force memorabilia will soon be the talk of the town, and Helen’s Poppy Room at the back, is bound to be sought after as a venue for intimate private parties. WI-FI is also available for business meetings and any club or organisation looking for a regular venue could do no better.”

P-J makes pies to his own recipes and they are individually prepared for customers. Visitors are advised to book and pre-order and the easiest way to do that is to visit the web-site at www.pjspiepub.com or telephone mobile 07980 258133. The casual caller will either have to wait an hour or so while their pie is prepared and cooked or, they could choose the pie of the day or a snack from the small, but interesting, snack menu.

Rob Jones, Batemans Profit Partnership Director says: “When PJ came to us with his Pies and unbridled enthusiasm we wanted to support him. We are confident that the newly refurbished Robin Hood will thrive under his and Helen’s innovative ideas and delicious home cooked fayre, as well as provide the perfect accompaniment to Batemans beers”
