Graham H Martin and Laurie K Manson of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP were appointed as joint administrators to The Arran Brewery Company Limited on 8 May 2008.

The brewery, which has been trading since 2000, produces award winning dark, blonde and other beer from its custom built micro brewery in Cladoch, near Brodick, on the Isle of Arran. The company employs 11 people and has a turnover of around £1m per annum.

The administration was triggered by cash flow problems caused by operational difficulties in getting the product to market in sufficient volumes.

Graham Martin, joint administrator and partner at PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP said:
“The beer produced by The Arran Brewery Company has been very well received in its markets and has already won several awards. We expect interest from parties who will have the ability to take the business to the next stage of its development in continuing to expand its brand presence and its channel to market.
“The business will be of interest to an existing brewer seeking to add brands to its portfolio or an individual seeking to take advantage of the lifestyle afforded by operating such a business on the island.”
