Wye Valley launches exciting new beers for 2009

Herefordshire’s Wye Valley Brewery has designed an exciting range of new beers for their 2009 monthly beer calendar.

In addition to their core beers which are available all year round, they also brew a different beer for every month. With the continued interest in ‘local’, the 2009 theme is ‘Herefordshire’.

The beers feature a range of Herefordshire subjects, including a beer to celebrate the largest surviving medieval map in the world, the Mappa Mundi, a beer brewed with Herefordshire honey and a nettle beer brewed with local organic Herefordshire nettles.

During 2009 Wye Valley Brewery will join forces with the Morgan Motor Company again and will produce a beer to celebrate their centenary year! Morgan Centenary Ale will be available to free houses throughout August. The beer will also be available as a special edition bottled beer. Morgan Centenary Ale will be the first ‘special edition’ bottled beer to come off Wye Valley Brewery’s sparkling new bottling line!

2009 kicks off with January’s Editor’s Ale, a beer brewed to celebrate one of Britain’s oldest Native Beef Breeds, Hereford Cattle. The beer has the support of the Hereford Cattle Society and staff at the society look forward to tasting the beer.

Eight of the 12 beers chosen will make an appearance for the first time.

Lizzie Thomas Marketing Executive stated ‘Creating the 2009 monthly beer calendar has been exciting, due to the variety of beer types and innovative recipes which we have designed, we think there is something for everyone’s palate. I am now looking forward to working on the beers for 2010, Wye Valley’s 25th year! We have some great ideas incorporating the infamous Dorothy Goodbody, so watch this space!’
