NEW beer for NEW Event

The Ludlow Spring Event is gathering the entries for the ‘Festival pub’, one of the many attractions at this new event being held on 9th and 10th May in the Ludlow Castle garden area. SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers Association) have been working with the Food Festival organising committee providing invaluable advice and ideas. Competitions for the local regional members will be taking place over the weekend. SIBA have pulled together over 100 real ales from their members to make up a HUGE selection for the expected 6000 visitors to savour. There will be traditional favourites and then some ales which have been brewed especially for the event. Also, we must not forget the special Festival Cider which was pressed at the 2008 September Event by Ralphs Cider.

The event promises to have a wealth of flavours for everybody. Both Wroxeter and Ludlow vineyard will be at the event providing an alternative for the non beer drinkers too. To soak up some of the beer there will be flavoursome sausages in every shape and size with Chestnut Meats bringing along their goat sausages to enjoy with an assortment of breads that will be available to purchase. As a ‘special treat’ there will be a variety of producers for the sweet toothed amongst us including Swan Chocolates and Uncle Peters Fudge.

For the ‘trail’ lovers there will be a Pate Trail on the Saturday and a Pudding Trail on the Sunday, not to be missed!

The weekend of music and good food will also be having a whole host of vehicles to show off on the Sunday when the Outer Bailey of the castle will open its gates to vintage vehicles large and small. As ‘special guests’ to this new event we have a travelling chocolate ‘roadshow’, childrens activities from ‘kids cook art’ and a whole host of talks and demonstrations to answer every question on beer, bangers and bread.
