BBPA and SIBA join together in demanding HMRC join us in the 21st Century

Brewers large and small are demanding HMRC reinstate the ability to file duty returns online.

Keith Bott, SIBA’s President, said “Most other forms and returns are available online, but beer duty is not. It seems ridiculous in today’s electronic world that we are forced to send forms by post to arrive by the 15th of the month, and to add insult to injury the envelopes are no longer postage paid! HMRC have failed to engage with any of the industry bodies about this change and seem unconcerned about the problems they are causing.”

Great news from HMRC

We have had a response to the joint letter sent by SIBA and BBPA to HMRC that assures they are trying exceptionally hard to reopen the electronic return of duty returns.

They are optimistic that this will be in time for the February return!
