A Warwickshire based award-winning brewery, Purity Brewing Co. is celebrating the success of two of its ales at the SIBA National Beer Competition.
Purity’s new pale ale, Mad Goose, took Gold in the Champion Best Bitter (4.1 – 4.5%) category, while the multi-award winning golden ale, Pure Gold, added to its recent accolades with Silver in the Champion Bitters & Pale Ales (up to 4%) category. Both beers won Gold awards in the regional finals in October last year.
The winners, announced last week at the close of SIBA’s (Society of Independent Brewers) annual conference in Stratford-Upon-Avon, were selected during February’s judging day, where 55 finalist casks and seven bottled beers were subject to the taste buds of SIBA’s panel of brewing experts, trade media representatives, CAMRA tasters and licencees.
Purity Brewing Co. has seen sales go through the roof since producing its first barrel of beer in December 2005 at its converted farm buildings near Alcester, Warwickshire.
Speaking of the award-winning drinks, SIBA CEO, Julian Grocock, comments: “Quality, taste and provenance are what we look for when judging our finalist beers and Purity’s ales have these in
abundance. It was clear from the very beginning that Pure Gold and Mad Goose were front runners for the awards and I would like to congratulate Purity for their part in putting home-grown ales back in the hearts and hands of the nation’s drinkers.”
Paul Halsey, Managing Director at Purity Brewing Co. comments: “We are delighted that two of our beers have received these fantastic awards from SIBA. Pure Gold is having an extremely good year, both with existing and emerging ale drinkers, while our recently launched Mad Goose is hot on its heels as an industry favourite. The SIBA awards are some of the industry’s highest accolades and winning gold and silver makes us very proud indeed.”
