Introduction

From May the 19th to 21st 2010, Technische Universität München. Life Science Center Weihenstephan will host the 2nd International Symposium for PhD students and young professionals working in the field of malting, brewing, and distilling. The aim of the symposium is to especially attract young people, new in the field and to cover a broad range of malting, brewing, fermented beverages and distilling related topics. This low cost symposium also intends to facilitate the dissemination of scientific work and to stimulate the discussion about state of the art topics in the field. It is specifically designed to initiate networking in this group of people who will be the future of the malting, brewing and distilling community.

Young researchers and PhD/graduate students

You are invited to actively participate by sending abstracts of their presentations. The program will depend on the papers submitted. The themes that evolve from the submissions will be introduced by senior scientists.

After the very successful symposium held in Cork 2008 this event will be a meeting place for exchange of scientific knowledge especially for young scientists in this field. It is a platform for reflection on the current understanding of the field, act as a catalyst for future developments, and will be an inspiring event in the progress of
research in the area.

Main Topics

All aspects relating to malting, brewing, fermented beverages, distilling will be considered within the remit of the Symposium; all aspects from raw materials, ingredients,
processing, analysis as well as nutritional benefits and functional beverages will be covered.

Industry: € 400

Accomodation:

Accomodation package € 200 (3 nights including
breakfast) at the symposium venue.
