Plain Ales, a Wiltshire brewery situated in the heart of Salisbury Plain, beat 53 other beers to win “Beer of the Festival”, with its popular “Innocence” beer, at the West Dorset CAMRA Oktoberfest at Weymouth. Plain Ales has been brewing for a year in Chitterne, Wiltshire and this award comes on the back of an award earlier in the year at the Devizes CAMRA festival.
Richard Gabe one of the organizers of the CAMRA festival in Weymouth sang the praises of the beer,”It stood out amongst all the other beers as a good example of a session beer,” he enthused, “A light and well hopped beer that appeals to all ages, men and women alike.”
James Timoney, owner and brewer of Plain Ales has been delighted with the overwhelmingly positive response to the new brewery in its first year. “Being a small brewery does have its limitations but on the upside we still can’t meet demand – long may it continue!” To keep up with the ever increasing demand the brewery is beginning a move into a larger building on site which will provide the means for them to quadruple their output. The brewery currently produces two beers “Innocence” and “Innspiration” with a third “Inndulgence” being planned for release in late October.
