Yorkshire’s fast growing Acorn Brewery has celebrated its 1000th brew milestone with the roll out of
2 Monkeys ale.
The award winning Barnsley based cask-ale brewer has released the beer for a November toast among its followers throughout northern England and beyond.
At a moderate 4% ABV strength, 2 Monkeys has been brewed with a little crystal malt together with Whitbread Golding Variety (WVG) and American Cascade hops to provide a well hopped, near blonde, easy drinking brew with a good bitterness level and a crisp finish.
It will first be available at the Acorn sponsored first Barnsley Winter Ale Festival from November 12 to 14 as, for this month (November) only, it joins Acorn’s acclaimed core ales: Barnsley Bitter, Barnsley Gold and Old Moor Porter. The same yeast strain from the original Barnsley Brewery – founded in the 1800s – is used in all Acorn beers
Acorn managing director and head brewer Dave Hughes said: “It couldn’t be planned, but hitting our 1000th brew landmark in November gives us a good reason to release a new beer to brighten up the dark autumn nights before the festive season begins. We have had a very good year and we hope that discerning cask ale drinkers will also be celebrating our success a little as they enjoy this beer.”
In recent months – despite the economy – six-year-old Acorn has grown business to see sales leap by 21 per cent while also winning several more awards for its beers and an accolade from the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) Brewing Business Awards, which recognise entrepreneurial flair among members.
