Cornish Nettle Cider Gets Bottled
Based near Helston, Foodswild – who specialise in the supply of edible seaweeds, wild vegetables, flowers, berries, nuts and mushrooms - use freshly gathered wild Cornish nettles to brew this unique alcoholic drink.
Foodswild has teamed up with the Keltek Brewery in Redruth to bottle their unique nettle cider ‘Cornish Stingers’.

For Miles Lavers – the owner of Foodswild – sustainably is a passion, and wild, locally gathered food comes with an incredibly low carbon footprint. By bottling locally at Keltek Brewery, they are able to keep the carbon miles of the cider to a minimum.
Â
Cornish Stingers has proven popular at trade shows across the county but this is the first time that a significant amount of it has been bottled.
Â
Trystan Grace – marketing assistant at Keltek Brewery – said, “We’re really happy to be involved in the production of such a purely Cornish product. The nettles are gathered locally, brewing takes place on a farm near Helston and it’s bottled in Redruth.â€
Â
Cornish Stingers is available from Wine in Cornwall of Penryn, and at Helston Farmer’s Market on the first Saturday of each month.
