Springhead beers picked for MPs Christmas party tipple

Two beers from one of Nottinghamshire’s leading micro breweries, Springhead, have been chosen to guest feature at MPs’ Christmas celebrations at Strangers Bar in the House of Commons on 9 December.

The All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group chose to feature, in its Strangers Bar over the festive period, Christmas Cranberry (4.4%) which is a ruby, malty beer with a hint of cranberry and perfect for the season. Charlie’s Angel (4.5%) is a dry, light and golden beer lifted by a hint of fresh oranges, making it highly refreshing.

The first beer will appear on the pumps on 7 December in time for The All-Party Parliamentary Beer Group’s Christmas party on 9 December. The Strangers Bar is so named as it is the only one in Westminster to welcome MPs’ guests. The Beer Group was founded in 1993 to promote understanding amongst MPs and Peers of the challenges faced by the beer and pub industries in the UK. It has around 300 members and is the largest industry group in Westminster.

Patrick Mercer, MP for Springhead Brewery’s constituency of Newark and Retford, who is a great supporter of the brewery has said: “Springhead produces the very best of beers reflecting everything that is great about Newark. I’m delighted that these outstanding beers have been chosen for the Christmas party and will give everybody the chance to understand why “Newarkers” are such happy people!”

Owner of Springhead Brewery, Helen Teasdale, who has been invited to the Christmas celebrations along with the Brewery’s Head Brewer, has commented: “We are delighted that Christmas Cranberry and Charlie’s Angel are to be represented at Westminster, it is a great showcase for our products and I hope that they continue to champion small regional micro breweries like ourselves.”

Mere mortals can also enjoy the taste of Springhead’s beers this Christmas up and down the country. Springhead bottled beers are available in Morrison’s nationally and regionally in Waitrose, The Co-op, Asda, Majestic, and Tesco’s supermarkets and in casks in Wetherspoons and most good cask ale pubs across the country.
