Springhead Brewery appoints new head of sales

Nottinghamshire based micro brewery, Springhead is delighted to announce the appointment of Phil Owen as National Accounts Manager.

Phil has been appointed by Springhead, which has tasked him with increasing distribution with national and regional wholesalers.  Springhead is aiming to include new target markets, particularly women and occasional or curious, younger cask beer drinkers.  Phil will be focusing on increasing the visibility of Springhead’s cask beers nationally and also in both free houses and pub companies.

Phil brings with him a wealth of knowledge drawn from a number of senior positions within the brewing industry, including his most recent post at regional brewers, Greene King,  where he was National Regional Accounts Manager for the North of England. Phil’s responsibilities included development of brand awareness, growth and distribution through a multitude of trade channels. Previous to Greene King he was Cask Ales Manager for Yorkshire brewers, HB Clark & Co Successors Limited.

Springhead Brewery, which is based near Newark, Nottinghamshire, was launched in 1990 as the smallest micro brewery in the UK. Today it is the largest brewery in Nottinghamshire and operates as a 50 barrel plant with a portfolio of 17 ales, including Roaring Meg, its only bottled beer.

On his appointment, Phil has commented: “As a Nottinghamshire man, I am delighted to be the latest ambassador for one of the county’s leading breweries. Springhead has some fabulous brands which I am proud to represent and an exciting future of innovation ahead.”

Commenting on Phil’s appointment, Helen Teasdale, owner of Springhead says: “I am very excited to welcome Phil to Springhead; he brings with him a great deal of knowledge from his experience with both a large regional brewery and with a small micro brewery, which will prove invaluable to Springhead as we look to develop the business.”
