Alcohol report to be published by MPs
Hard-hitting measures expected to be recommended by panel
An influential panel of MPs will publish a report on alcohol and the impact it has on the nation’s health early next year.
The Health Committee’s report will be released on January 8 and is expected to contain a series of hard-hitting measures including banning alcohol advertising at sports events and the introduction of a minimum price for alcohol.

The report is also believed to be critical of the Department of Culture, Media and Sport for its overseeing of the Licensing Act.
The committee of 11 MPs has been looking at the issues around alcohol for the last seven months. Sessions have included interviews with industry representatives, supermarket bosses and healthcare experts.
