Bath Ales take over Graze Bar

Bath Ales is delighted to announce it has taken over the site, formerly trading as Queen Square Dining Room on Queen Square in the centre of Bristol.

Graze Bar & Chophouse marks a significant step for Bath Ales as it is something of a departure from their existing estate of traditional pubs.  The rise of cafe bars and casual dining restaurants has been fairly dramatic over recent years and with this customer expectation has risen too.

As a progressive organisation Bath Ales have been keen to acquire a site in Central Bristol but to date had not found the right combination of location, size and profile.  When the opportunity arose to take on the site formally known as Queen Square Dining Room, they jumped at the chance.  Central yet discreet, it is well placed to serve the city’s professional community along with the plethora of local people and tourists that use the city centre.

Robin Couling, Retail Operations Manager for Bath Ales said: “The concept for Graze is a sophisticated take on the British pub and combines superb cask ales, wines and spirits with a no nonsense menu of quality British and European Cooking. We have created an informal yet stylish bar will serve Bath Ales beers along with an eclectic range of continental beers, premium spirits, interesting wines and soft drinks.  Customers can order drinks at the bar or relax and enjoy service at the table.”  He carried on saying: “Meat cookery is central to the food theme and we are delighted to be working with Neston Park Farm in Wiltshire who will supply their superb, estate reared, organic black & tan beef along with delicious woodland reared pork and fabulous red clover-grazed lamb.  The menu is designed in such a way to allow customers to eat anything from a light lunch or snack such as mushrooms & kidneys on toast or fish soup to a three or four course meal with fine wines”.

Bars & chophouses in London & New York provided much of the inspiration for the interior design which was expertly handled by Bristol based designers ‘Simple Simon Design’.  High quality bespoke furniture coupled with creative lighting schemes and some quirky design cues have been used to great effect and result in a interior that should exceed customer expectation. Simon Hall from Simple Design said: “We were very pleased to be working with Bath Ales again and felt privileged to be entrusted with delivering a new city-centre concept for them. We have delivered a contemporary interior that embraces the values that people would expect from Bath Ales.

We wanted to inject a little of the humour that people have come to expect from the Bath Ales, from a life-size calf statue above the entrance to the carefully selected pictures. Attention to detail was important, sourcing endgrain oak blocks to form the stunning bar top to the Victorian style glazed tiles to the toilets and bar front, it all gives a feeling of warmth, comfort and sophistication. We are delighted with the finished result, it’s a wonderfully open space with lots of natural light and a great place to do business during the week or while away an afternoon or evening enjoying top quality British beer and food”.

Graze Bar & Chophouse will be opening the doors to the public on Wednesday 18 November at 11.00am.
