A BIRKENHEAD brewery has rolled out a new range of cask ales as it prepares to expand business across the North-West.

The Peerless Brewing Company, based in Pool Street, has developed the brews following the changeover from the former Betwixt Brewing Company.

The company is now eyeing the Manchester market and has plans to extend into Lancashire and Wales.

Former Betwixt director Steve Briscoe takes the role of managing director and head brewer of the new company, joined by his wife Rose as a director and two new employees have also been recruited to strengthen brewing and distribution.

Mr Briscoe said that, despite the increasing number of pub closures in recent years, those selling cask ales seemed to be doing well.
