Barnsley-based brewer Acorn enjoyed a strong festive sales performance, recording a rise of 29 per cent on 2008. Altogether 87,500 pints of cask ale left the brewery in the run-up to Christmas.
Acorn managing director and head brewer Dave Hughes said: “We were delighted with December sales, which ended a year of steady growth on a high note as we continue to invest and develop new business.
“Our Barnsley Bitter went extremely well and we soon sold out of both seasonal specials.”–Since launching in 2003 Acorn has invested in a new brewery and has a production capacity of 100 barrels a week.
