A small Somerset brewery has taken two Gold awards for its bottled stout at the Tuckers Maltings Beer Festival in Newton Abbot. Quantock Brewery, which has only been in operation for just over 2 years, won the Gold in the ‘Bottled Porters, Milds, Old Ales & Stouts’ class with its Quantock Stout which then went on to take Gold for being the overall winner of the bottled beers.
“We are absolutely delighted to win this award. The brewery has only been in operation for just over two years and we only started bottling beers 18 months ago. We are a small family run business and it has been quite a struggle getting to where we are now, but this award will help give credibility to our beers and move us on to the next level. This beer is becoming increasingly popular with our customers both in bottle and in cask form.”
Quantock Stout is produced from the finest Maris Otter malt blended with flaked barley and roast malts to give a well rounded, full flavoured beer with a distinctive hop flavour and dry finish. The beer is bottle conditioned and carries the CAMRA ‘Real Ale In The Bottle’ logo.
