Successful Microbrewery Scoops Hat-Trick At Camra Beer Festival

Announced this week, for the third year in a row Wiltshire microbrewery Box Steam Brewery has won the “Beer of the Festival” award at the annual Chippenham CAMRA beer festival, held this year from 23rd  - 24th April.

This year’s winning beer was the newest addition to the Box Steam Brewery line-up; Derail Ale – a 5.2% ABV golden beer brewed in the style of an American IPA.

Previous winners were Funnel Blower (2009) and Tunnel Vision (2008). Tunnel Vision also won in 2005.

This was the second award to be won in the same week by Box Steam Brewery; two days previously Funnel Blower (a 4.5% ABV vanilla porter) achieved Bronze in the SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) South West beer competition (Speciality Beer category).

These are the latest in a series of awards achieved in the last 12 months for Box Steam Brewery – other CAMRA beer festival successes include Peterborough (Gold – porter & stout category), Watford (Gold), Worcester (Second), and Ascot (Second).

Gordon King from Box Steam Brewery said “We’re thrilled to have won this local award for the third year in a row. This, along with the other accolades we have received this year, truly reflects the hard work and commitment to quality from our entire team to ensure that our products are of the highest standard. Furthermore, since the winning beer at Chippenham is determined by votes from those attending the festival, we must thank the large number of local supporters we have.”
