e-commerce giant recommends beer delivery specialist to online sellers
Online retailer Amazon now recommends Ales By Mail to online sellers who need glass bottles packed, shipped and delivered securely.
Amazon.co.uk launched its online grocery store in July this year. Online shoppers can now buy a wide range of beers, as well as wine, spirits and soft drinks, in glass bottles. However, these items are sold by third party associate sellers rather than by Amazon itself. Responsibility for ensuring the bottle reaches the customer safely rests with the seller.
To ensure that buyers get the product they ordered, rather than a sticky and very dangerous package of broken glass, Amazon has agreed to recommend Ales By Mail to associates who need a specialist fulfilment service for glass bottles.
The bottles will be stored at Ales By Mail’s warehouse in Romford, Essex, from where they can be packed and shipped by the company’s specialist staff. Paul Kruzycki, founder and managing director of Ales By Mail, said: “Clearly, learning how to safely pack and dispatch bottles properly had to be a top priority when we set up the business.
“Other online retailers can afford far greater margins for error when to comes to dispatching their goods than we can. With glass, your failure rate has to be as close to zero as is humanly achievable.
“Third party fulfilment is a growing part of our business. An increasing number of brewers trust us to handle the fulfilment of their mail order and online sales, and we’ve reorganised our existing warehouse to accommodate everything from small quantities and multi-brand orders, to full pallets.
“It’s a clear endorsement of the hard work we’ve done to get this crucial aspect of our business right that Amazon is prepared to recommend us to associate sellers. In the current market, breweries need to look carefully at alternative routes to market such as mail order and Amazon, and we offer a very cost effective way for them to do so.”
One brewer which outsources its fulfilment to Ales By Mail is London’s acclaimed Sambrook Brewery. Duncan Sambrook, managing director, said: “Ales by Mail has been a fantastic partner for our brewery. Paul and his team understand how we do business and ensure that our products are treated with care and our customers achieve excellent service time and again.
“I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Ales by Mail to any other brewer thinking of distributing their product online.”
