Liam wins Restaurateur of the Year 2011
Well, the awards just wouldn’t stop coming WEST. Later on Tuesday afternoon, I was so proud to see Liam Bedwell, our fabulous GM, become Restaurateur of the Year 2011, an accolade he not only truly deserves but the whole WEST team proudly celebrates with him. Have a look at the photo above for a snapshot of Liam’s proud moment.
WEST Hefeweizen is awarded Supreme Champion of the keg beers.
I, myself, flew to Stratford-upon-Avon on Thursday last week to present my own to-pence worth on “the future of beer, brewing and women in a male industry” at the Society of Independent Brewers Annual Conference.
Having spent a nerve-wrecking half hour in front of an audience of people who all seemed to have been in brewing longer than I have lived (not quite, but you get my drift!) the day’s ‘glory moment’ came when our WEST Hefeweizen was awarded Supreme Champion of the keg beers. For the dog lovers amongst you, that’s a bit like winning one breed category at Crufts and then winning “Best in Show”.
Now, I am not sure I look like best in the photo above, but I thought you should at least get to see the award! It really should have been Adam and Felix in the shot, but they were back at the WEST ranch brewing more fine
lagers…
WEST Opus 5 – the anniversary beer
So, having got over the excitement that was last week, I found myself waking up on the first day of Year 6 at WEST this morning, having celebrated our 5th birthday last night with a pint of our anniversary beer. If you like clean, refreshing, citrusy beer, come and join us for a pint of our WEST Opus 5 (a lovely 4.4% ABV) before we run out of it. It will only be available on Glasgow Green, but trust me it’s worth the trip.
