Real Ale Gets Glamorous With Vintage Fashion Make-Over.

A regional brewer has launched a ground-breaking new joint-promotion with glamorous vintage fashion designer Vivien of Holloway. The promotion celebrates the fabulously feminine appeals of their Dorothy Goodbody brand by searching for a real life ‘Dorothy’ to star in a 1950’s styled photo-shoot and appear on the cover of the 2013 Wye Valley Brewery Calendar.

For over 20 years Dorothy Goodbody has been a much-loved part of Wye Valley Brewery’s range and her (fictional) character is based on a 1950’s local belle, the daughter of a Herefordshire hop farmer. Inspired by the Herefordshire countryside, Dorothy developed a passion for real ale and created a range of fantastic ale recipes using local hops.

The Brewery are looking for a vivacious character to recreate the spirit of Dorothy for the cover of their 2013 brewery calendar in a beautiful 1950′s styled photo-shoot.

MD Vernon Amor is also keen to highlight what they see as the crucial difference between Dorothy and other ‘pretty girls on pump clips’ ‘Our Dorothy has vintage charm and style – an image which appeals to women and men alike – and mostly importantly she is portrayed as the creator and champion of the beers, definitely NOT just a pretty face!’

Although Wye Valley Brewery like to think they know a thing or two about creating great real ales, they never claimed fashion in their skill-set, so have joined forces with vintage fashion designer Vivien of Holloway. Vivien is a life-long 50′s lifestyle and fashion enthusiast, and the Vivien of Holloway brand of gorgeous vintage style clothing now has fans across the globe.

Vernon comments ‘We are thrilled to be working with Vivien and her team to help us find and style our Dorothy for the day. This presents something quite new for real ale – let’s put the ‘beard and sandals’ myth to bed once and for all – who said real ale wasn’t glamorous!’

The winning Dorothy for the day will win a fabulous prize package including the professional photo-shoot package on location at one of Herefordshire’s verdant hop-farms at the height of hop-season, a beautiful 1950’s style dress from Vivien of Holloway, and plenty of copies of the calendar on which they star as cover-girl to share with friends and family!
