Leading restaurant and pubs operator, Mitchells & Butlers, has chosen Kirkstall Brewery’s Three Swords Ale (4.5% A.B.V.) for its ‘Local Hero’ initiative. The light and refreshing 4.5% A.B.V. beer is brewed using 3 American hop varieties and will be installed in approximately twenty pubs throughout West Yorkshire and Humberside from mid-August 2012. Participating outlets include Nicholson’s, Ember Inns, and a selection of Mitchells & Butlers town centre and community pubs. Other ‘local hero’ beers have been chosen throughout the country to be sold in Mitchells & Butlers pubs within their region.

Kirkstall Brewery is situated by the Leeds Liverpool canal, in the shadow of the original Kirkstall Brewery.* It was launched last summer by Steve Holt, who has a wealth of experience in the beer industry and established his own successful importing and marketing company, Vertical Drinks in 2003. Vertical Drinks is responsible for the sales and marketing of the Kirkstall Brewery brands to all trade sectors.

Mike Breen, Procurement Manager, Mitchells & Butlers comments: “We want to support local breweries but without compromising on the quality and consistency of the products we offer throughout our venues. Three Swords with its light citrus flavour and strong local following convinced us that it would be an excellent addition to our cask ale brand portfolio.’’

Since launching just over one year ago, Kirkstall Brewery has developed a reputation for producing great beer and has already won a string of awards. The Brewery has recently extended capacity to meet increasing demand and there are plans to further expand production facilities in 2013.
