Broxtowe MP Anna Soubry has congratulated a Giltbrook brewery after they bagged five gold medals at the Nottingham Beer Festival.
The Blue Monkey Brewery based at Giltbrook Industrial Park landed the awards, including the SIBA Champion Beer of the Midlands for their beer Big Blue.
Anna Soubry said “I’m an unashamed fan of Blue Monkey.
“The brewery which I visited this summer provides jobs in the constituency, Blue Monkey is also reinventing the great British pub and their beers are outstanding.
“I am a proud consumer of Blue Monkey beers and whilst not surprised they have won gold at the festival am amazed at the number awards they have won.”
The annual competition is organised by SIBA, the Society of Independent Breweries, but the Campaign for Real Ale runs the festival itself.
This year the competition involved more than 420 beers supplied by 68 breweries across the Midlands, which were all blind-tasted by a panel of 113 judges.
Blue Monkey’s John Hickling, pictured, said: “I’m really proud of what our team have achieved in winning these awards.
“No brewery in the history of the competition has ever won so many medals in one go, and this year there was more competition to deal with.”
