Highland Brewing Company’s Pale Ale wins SIBA Gold
Orkney’s Highland Brewing Company’s Pale Ale added yet another medal to its ever increasing trophy cabinet at the SIBA’s first-ever BeerX event in Sheffield.
Following on from its recent win at the “The International Brewing Awards 2013” the Swannay based brewery won a Gold Medal with its ‘Pale Ale’ in the ‘Class for Premium Bitters. “ A perfectly balanced American style pale ale with British leanings. Brewed using a tantalising blend of Global hops in generous proportions, skilfully added to the copper early & late in the boil to give a wonderfully easy drinking real ale – the ultimate Pale Ale which has something for all who appreciate a well-structured pint.”
Highland Brewing Co’s delighted owner and head brewer Rob Hill explained, “We are doing remarkably well this year with our Pale Ale being recognised as not only world class by International judges but by our British peers as being one of the most remarkable beers brewed in this country This is an amazing achievement for a relatively small brewery that brews beers to perfection.”
Tasting Notes for Pale Ale. 4.7% ABV
Appearance: burnished golden copper in colour
Nose: resinous citrus hops with a generous floral note.
Palate: Hops lead against a generously malty background with the crystal malt giving depth, length & structure – softening the hops which persist in the long lingering aftertaste.
