BFBi trip to drinktec 14-19th September 2009, Munich
To: 19/09/2009
Venue: Messe Munich
Time:
Contact: Charlotte Hall
BFBi are looking into a option for visitors (IBD Members) to attend drinktec at a low cost maximising the time spent at the fair and minimising costs on accommodation.
We have investigated chartering a plane for a one day trip, the details are below.
Potential date Thursday 17th September 2009
- Flight to leave UK (East Midlands departure airport would be the most suitable) – early morning
- Arrive in Munich airport with transfer from Airport to Messe via the S-Bahn and U-Bahn
- Depart Munich airport for UK – late evening
The cost for this is £200 per seat plus the cost of the visitor pass. (€25 pre sale €49 on day)
I would appreciate if you could forward this around your Membership for them to either contact me directly or through yourself.
We require to gain a enough response before confirmation therefore I would appreciate any interested parties registering their interest earlier rather than later.
Kind Regards
Charlotte Hall

90 Minute Tasting Sessions
With a world of styles and flavours to choose from, beer tasting can be great fun. But it is important to use all your senses; hearing; vision; smell and taste. Hearing? Just think of that ‘schh’ as the bottle top comes off or the hiss and gurgle as a widget can is opened. Beer should look good. If you don’t give your beer a sniff how can you pick out the sweet, toasty, malty and toffee nose a classic British ale; the citrus hoppiness of an IPA or the cloves and bananas leaping out of a wheat beer! And use a glass with plenty of ‘headspace’.
Swallow, don’t spit! After your first mouthful you will notice all the flavours. The malty sweetness at the front of the mouth and the drying bitterness from the hops at the back as the beer slips down your throat to a satisfying finish. Each style has its own character: the sweet and sour attack of a great Belgian fruit beer; the hoppy surge of an IPA; the roasty richness of a creamy porter; the perfumed bite of a traditional Pilsener lager. You’ll soon find that wine is hard pressed to match the diversity of beer flavours.
We launched these new monthly beer appreciation events aimed at consumers who like beer but may not know too much about it and don’t have the time to attend our full day course.. Our aim is to encourage more people to appreciate the wonderful world of beer, ales & lagers.
