Qualifications - BSc Brewing & Microbiology (Hons.)
from Heriot-Watt University
In 1988 Fergus began working for a series of large multinational brewers in production roles. In 1996, having gained valuable experience of producing a wide range of ales and international lagers under licence, Fergus started his own company based in Perth. Inveralmond beers were first brewed 1997, since which time the brewery has outgrown its current premises with plans to start building new premises in early 2009 together with a 3 fold increase in capacity.

Tuggy Delap
I was brought up on our family farm in the Highlands were my father became the local MP.
After boarding school I spent some time as a student in Brussels – ah, I did drink beer there – and then in Florence (Beer and Pizza).
Once the boys grew up I worked part time in the Tapestry Centre in Alresford, Hampshire. I was a good sales girl and designer of samplers and cushions and became a teacher of the art of embroidery on canvas. It has stood me in good stead since becoming one of the proud owners of Fyne Ales.
I had the good fortune to inherit some wrecked farm buildings at the head of Loch Fyne and I struck on the bright idea of opening a brewery. This was a great start for a seldom-if-ever-drinker of beer who was enjoying a part-time job in Hampshire teaching embroidery! Jonny and I struck up a friendship with Martin and Rae at the Cheriton Brewhouse and my beer ‘education’ started from there. Jonny was retired early from his job as he has Parkinsons – the doctors recommended a lifestyle without stress so we came north to open a brewery?!!
I am grateful to Martin Roberts, David Smith and the team at the Brewlab and I couldn’t do it without the support of the team at Fyne Ales and I am grateful to all of them..
