Brewers raise a glass to St Luke’s Hospice
INEPENDENT brewers and beer lovers have raised more than £700 for St Luke’s Hospice.
The Society of Independent Brewers’ SIBA BeerX Festival came to Sheffield for the first time in March and chose Sheffield’s only hospice as its charity.
Guests were encouraged to make donations to the hospice and also to hand in unused beer tokens that were then converted into cash, bringing the final total to just over £707.
And following the event, Thornbridge Brewery Marketing Director and SIBA Midlands’ Regional Chair Alex Buchanan visited St Luke’s to present a cheque to hospice Fundraising Coordinator Claire Hunter.
“This was a great amount and we are delighted that the Festival chose to support us,” said Claire.
“We need to raise more than £4 million every year just to continue providing our current levels of service so a donation like this means a lot to our patients and their families.”
