The Plough Inn arranges Littlethorpe Rocks music festival in aid of charity
The Plough Inn in Littlethorpe will be transformed into a mini Glastonbury on Sunday 5 May, when the Everards pub hosts its own bank holiday music festival, Littlethorpe Rocks, in aid of charity.
The event is being organised by Head Chef at The Plough Inn, Dan Lambell and Bar Staff Angela Barrett and Sasha Barrett, in memory of Dan’s grandfather, Barry Southwell who died on 5 November 2012. The event takes place exactly 6 months after Barry died. All proceeds from the day will go to LOROS and Marie Curie Cancer Care, both of which are very close to Dan’s heart.
Dan said: “My grandad was due to go into a LOROS hospice but died before he could be admitted. At his funeral my Gran asked for donations to the charities instead of flowers but at the time I didn’t have much money, so arranging this is my way of contributing. Hopefully with the help of fundraisers like Littlethorpe Rocks more people will be able to benefit from the fantastic services that these charities offer”.
11 bands will be performing on the day including local favourites Krisis, Vengence, The Vinyl Throwbacks, The Sherwins, The Dambusters and Donut Panic. Music will begin at midday and the last band are due to finish at 10pm, with acoustic sessions taking place inside the pub afterwards. African drummers and a Ukelele band will also be playing at the event.
To accompany the music there will be a BBQ, a hog roast, a bouncy castle and a range of stalls selling everything from crafts to car accessories. There will also be a raffle and auction with prizes including an Everards tour for 12 people, a family pass to Rockingham Castle, a £25 voucher to spend at Next and further vouchers donated from local businesses in and around Littlethorpe.
Licensee of The Plough Inn, Simon Pick, said: “Littlethorpe Rocks will be a brilliant day, There is lots of entertainment arranged so it should be a good way for everyone to have a fun day out for the bank holiday. Sadly, everyone knows someone who’s had cancer so we really hope that, with the help of locals and the residents of Littlethorpe and surrounding areas, we’ll be able to raise a lot of money for two good causes.”
As well as the Littlethorpe Rocks event on 5 May, member of staff Sasha Barrett has also organised a charity sky dive for the cause, which will be carried out by herself and a pub regular Mr Neil Green. The sky dive is due to take place on Saturday 18 May and has raised around £1,000.
Littlethorpe Rocks will begin at 11am and will be held in The Plough Inn car park. Entrance is free but donations are welcomed.
