Hawkshead Brewery's Great Taste Win
Cumbria’s Hawkshead Brewery is celebrating winning a 2013 Great Taste award for its latest bottled beer – Windermere Pale, even before it has gone on sale.
Judges described the beer as “incredibly enticing”.
Windermere Pale, on draught, is already a multi-award winning cask beer. This slightly stronger bottled version, has already won through to the national final of the Sainsbury’s Great British Beer Hunt (to be judged next month) and now claims a 2 star Great Taste award, all pre-launch.
“This is a dream launch for a new beer,” said Hawkshead’s Alex Brodie. “Winning a Great Taste award and the Sainsbury’s regional competition gives us confidence that the beer will sell well when we launch it in bottle, next month.”
“Further proof that it is a great taste is that our friends at Hawkshead Relish got a gong in the same competition with their Windermere Pale Real Ale Jelly,” said Brodie.
The Great Taste award, organised by the Guild of Fine Food, is the acknowledged benchmark for speciality food and drink and is claimed to be the world’s largest and most rigorous food awards scheme.
