Hoppy 20th Birthday Oakham Ales
Oakham Ales, the acclaimed, innovative and independent ale brewery, based in Peterborough, is celebrating its 20th Birthday in September 2013. The Brewery has established a reputation for its exceptional, full-flavoured hoppy beers which consistently win national and international awards.
The team recently celebrated with over two-hundred of its ‘Oakademy of Excellence’* members at the Brewery Tap pub based in Westgate, Peterborough. To mark the occasion, the Brewery has launched a special 20th Anniversary 5.8% A.B.V. ale as well as a commemorative t-shirt that illustrates some of the favourite Oakham Ales beers that have been brewed over the years.
The Brewery has come a long way in 20 years, founded in 1993, the company has grown from its original 10 barrel brewery plant in Oakham (Rutland) to brewing around 16,000 brewery barrels of beer per year (that’s 4.9 million pints) at its Peterborough plant which opened in 2006.
The Brewery’s first beer was JHB (3.8% A.B.V.) and twenty years later this continues to be the brewery’s flagship ale. Today the core range also includes: Inferno (4.0%), Citra (4.2%), Scarlet Macaw (4.4%) and Bishops Farewell (4.6% ). Seasonal ales, special ales and some superb aged and vintage ales complete the range.
Oakham Ales has built an enviable reputation for the quality and consistency of its ales and has won over 200 awards for its beers over the past twenty years, most recently being awarded, three golds, one silver and two bronze medals in this year’s International Beer Challenge 2013**, beating a record number of entries from 33 countries.
Adrian Posnett, Managing Director of Oakham Ales says: “It’s fantastic that our beers are gaining such recognition both here in the UK and internationally. All credit to the team who have worked so hard and are constantly innovating. We are delighted to be adding additional fermenting vessels and conditioning tanks to the Brewery to keep up with the increasing demand.”
