New Helpline for People Who Work in Pubs and Breweries
A brand new helpline and website is being launched this week to help those working in pubs and breweries in difficult times. The new services have been set up to provide useful information and guidance on a range of difficulties from finding housing for those leaving pubs, to support for those with serious health problems. The services have been set up by the Licensed Trade Charity.
The charity had seen a 100% increase in calls to its support team in the last ten years. Concerned that there were more people needing support, they carried out research to establish what sort of issues were being faced by those working in the trade, and what their priorities were. The new website and Freephone helpline will provide useful information in the following areas
- Housing
- Debt
- Health problems
- Family matters
- Social isolation for the elderly
The charity help around 1,200 people a year in the trade at the moment but hope the new website and helpline will reach another 2,000 a year.
Liz Gaffer, Director of Marketing & Charity Services said “everyone we help is surprised that there is a free service available like this that makes a difference in so many people’s lives. It’s clear from the research that there are many more people who could benefit from the knowledge and support we offer. We hope awareness of the new helpline and website spreads quickly”.
