Gold Does the Double
Nigel Gibbons from Crisp Malting Group presents the Gold award in Bottled Gold Beers to The Backyard Brewhouse for Gold 4.4%
Our hand crafted ale, Gold has won Gold Medal for best overall bottled beer and best in its category at the SIBA Midlands Regional Beer Competition in Nottingham this week.
A smooth, golden bitter which uses Citra and Styrian hops to give an intense citrus, tropical fruit experience, Gold is also available on draught and has an ABV of 4.4%.
It is a second win for Gold – last year in the SIBA National Champion awards, it was presented with a bronze award for speciality beers. It is the eighth SIBA award for Backyard Brewhouse – other beers which have been awarded prizes both nationally and regionally include The Hoard and East India.
Austen Morgan, director and brewer of Backyard Brewhouse said, “We are absolutely thrilled. When we received the bronze award last year in the National Competition, we were confident Gold could only improve, and in tastings back at the brewery we were sure that Gold was at its best for colour, aroma and of course taste.”
