A Match made in Gastronomy Heaven
Ilkley Brewery and Brasserie Blanc to host food and beer matching evening
Yorkshire’s multi-award-winning Ilkley Brewery has teamed up with Brasserie Blanc Leeds to host a beer and food pairing evening to be held on Wednesday 13 November at Raymond Blanc’s Leeds Brasserie.
The gastronomic celebration will be open to the public and will feature a four course meal, designed by head chef, Sachchidananda Samanta, with a paired Ilkley Brewery beer to go with each course. Tickets are priced at £35 per person and are available to buy from the Brasserie Blanc restaurant in Leeds or by calling the restaurant on 0113 220 6060.
Following a hop-inspired drinks reception, customers will begin their four course food and beer adventure which will run as follows:
- White onion and truffle soup with home made beer bread
Beer match: Holy Cow, a 4.7% cranberry milk stout
- Drunken Scottish scallop escabeche
Beer match: Mary Jane, Ilkley Brewery’s flagship 3.5% pale ale
- Roasted rack of pork with beer marinade, pepper sauce
Beer match: Ilkley Pale, a 4.2% strongly-hopped crisp pale ale
- Dark and white chocolate chilli beer mousse
Beer match: The Mayan, a 6.5% chocolate chipotle stout.
Each course, along with its paired beer, will be guided and tutored by Luke Raven from the brewery who will explain why each beer complements its partner dish so well.
Brasserie Blanc founder and chef, Raymond Blanc, said: “I love the idea of matching our delicious food with the great beers from the Ilkley Brewery. It will be a great night with a fun atmosphere and well worth coming along. I am sorry I can’t be there to join in!”
Luke Raven from Ilkley Brewery added: “We’re thrilled to be partnering with Brasserie Blanc for this food and beer pairing celebration. Sachchidananda has developed a phenomenal menu, with some of the dishes being cooked with our beer too, so we’re excited to have the opportunity to showcase a core selection of our beers alongside such a formidable feast.
“Matching food with beer, as opposed to wine, is becoming hugely popular and as brewers of award-winning craft beers, we are very keen to promote this notion. Gone are the days of pairing a pint with a packet of pork scratchings or a pickled egg; craft beers are now constantly evolving, becoming more refined and more suited to food matching than some of the world’s finest wines.
“The Brasserie Blanc evening is a must for diners looking to begin a new food journey, one which we hope will be the start of a new style of fine dining.”
Tickets for the Ilkley Brewery and Brasserie Blanc beer and food evening are priced at £35 per person and can be purchased direct from Brasserie Blanc, Victoria Mill, Sovereign Street, Leeds. Customers can also buy tickets by calling the restaurant direct on 0113 220 6060.
