The “Dun Cow” raises it's glass to £45K revamp
The Dun Cow in Ollerton, Knutsford has reopened its doors following a £45,000 refurbishment and the arrival of new landlord.

Located on Chelford Road, the Robinsons pub will now be run by successful multiple operator Darren Sayle. With many years’ experience in the trade and a full new team, the vision for the Dun Cow is to become a destination pub which has great quality food and brilliant service.
Susan Forbes, Robinsons’ Business Development Manager said: “I am delighted that the Dun Cow has re-opened and am looking forward to once again be working with Darren who already operates three other fantastic Robinsons’ pubs. I am confident that Darren and his team will give a new lease of life to the Dun Cow and put this iconic pub back on the map.”
Commenting on the new business, Darren said: “I am really excited to be continuing my relationship with Robinsons with my forth pub within the estate. We will offer a warm welcome with our core vision of a “Great Pub with Great Food”. The Dun Cow hopes to provide brilliant traditional home cooked food with a great range of cask ales in a warm and relaxing environment.”
Following the temporary closure of the pub in April 2013, the pub has undergone a complete redecoration both internally and externally featuring roaring open fires, a log burning stove and a rich warming colour palette and décor to create a welcoming and cosy atmosphere.
Speaking on the extensive revamp Susan added: “The pub looks great – it has such a warm and hospitable feel to it now – it is now a pub where everyone should feel welcome.”
Darren will be aided in the running of the iconic hostelry by former mentor and experienced landlord; Stuart White and his wife Andrea: “It’s a real pleasure to be working with Andrea and Stuart. I was trained by Stuart when I was starting out in the trade and have no doubt that their years of knowledge and experience will champion the new vision for the pub.”
Opening all day, every day; Darren added: “The pub will serve as an ideal meeting place for friends and family, informal business meetings and a great place to go for a quiet drink.”

Not content with the challenge of running four successful pubs, Darren will be running “Brooks Hell Runner” on November 2nd 2013 in Delamere, Cheshire. The 12 mile endurance run, which puts competitors through their paces as they battle their way up mountainous hills, through freezing water and treacherous mud, saw more than 8,150 competitors take part in 2012.
“I am a founder trustee for a charity set up in my village three years ago, each year we support a different headline charity. I am proud to say that we have so far raised over £1000 for Macmillan Cancer Care.”
