Celebrity Chef hosts fundraising dinner at Stockport Brewery
Simon Rimmer enlists Britain’s Armed Forces (to serve in the kitchen) in aid of The Soldiers’ Charity
TV chef and restaurateur Simon Rimmer is set to host a fundraising dinner at Robinsons Visitors Centre in Stockport, on the 15th November, in support of ABF The Soldiers’ Charity.
Three Soldiers from 156 Transport Regiment, Royal Logistic Corps, the local Reserve unit based in Salford and Liverpool, who between them have many years of Regular and Territorial Army experience including various operational tours, will swap serving their country for the evening and instead serve up a gourmet delight for guests. The soldiers, Warrant Officer Class 2 Chris Green, Lance Corporal Stuart Graham and Private Clare Sampson are all delighted to be able to support such a worthwhile event and are looking forward to working alongside celebrity chef Simon Rimmer. The event – which includes a 3-course sit down meal put together by Simon Rimmer himself, followed by live music – sold out in a matter of days.
Commenting on the sellout event Colonel Philip Naylor said: “This is going to be a fun evening, filled with laughter and cheer, to help the men and women who have unhesitatingly served our nation whenever the call has come.”
“The Soldiers’ Charity is the charity that supports all soldiers, former soldiers and their families in times of need. Every year we help some 6000 or so cases ranging from support to the injured, aged, infirm, and those with other problems such as mental health issues or financial difficulties. The support the charity has received to date is incredible and we are delighted that this event at Robinsons Brewery Visitors Centre has sold out so quickly.”
There will be fundraising activities on the night and £10 from every ticket will go directly to The Soldiers’ Charity’s vital work supporting soldiers, former soldiers and their families at a time when it is needed more than ever.
With Simon Rimmer in the kitchen, Robinsons Catering Development Manager Christian Whittleworth and three of the Army’s finest heroes cooking by his side, it is set to be a night to remember.
“I am a huge supporter of the armed forces and actively get involved with both mentoring and judging of army chef training and competitions, both at home and abroad. Food plays a huge part in army life and is not only used to fuel our troops but also as a tool to engage socially with others as well as inducing positive thoughts of friends, family and home,” Simon Rimmer told us. “I am very proud to host this event in the presence of such great company and such a fantastic cause.”
The event is one of two events being held at the Robinsons Brewery Visitors Centre with Simon Rimmer this November. The second, a take on the famous hit US show ‘Man vs. Food, takes place on Tuesday 17th December 2013.
“It’s all part of our on-going calendar of events which we will be continuing to add to throughout the festive season,” explains Robinsons’ newly appointed Retail Operations Manager, Simon Taylor.
Robinsons Brewery Visitors Centre opened in March 2013 to tell the story of the company’s 175 year history and since opening its doors has hosted a range of events throughout the year, from seafood nights to indoor BBQs, breakfast meetings to bespoke conference banqueting.
