Caledonian Brewery Senior Management news – Stephen Crawley
The Caledonian Brewing Company today confirms that Stephen Crawley, Managing Director, has announced that he will leave the business at the end of December 2013 after 20 successful years with the Edinburgh company, one of the UK’s premier cask breweries. Stephen joined Caledonian in 1993 and became MD in 2001. A recruitment process is now underway to find Stephen’s successor.
Keith Hogg, Chairman of Caledonian commented: “Stephen has successfully led the Caley through a significant period of change, and we will all be very sad to see him go. He leaves, having put the business in a very strong position, poised to further benefit from the increased interest in cask beers. He has developed an excellent senior management team, and has worked tirelessly to find new markets for our great beers.”
Stephen added, ‘’It has certainly been an interesting ride at Slateford Road, yet it feels the right time to let someone else take the reins for the next Caley chapter. It is particularly pleasing to leave with the brewery busier than ever. I have always stressed to employees that Caledonian is a winner and we are privileged to be part of a remarkable story. Being able to operate on an independent basis has certainly allowed us to retain the pride and passion for Caledonian’s real heroes – the beer and the brewery!”
“Whilst I will miss the stroll down the hill from Slateford Road, and I am not totally fixed on what I do next, I have some exciting opportunities to consider. I guess they will not be far away from great beer and brewing. It just remains to wish the new leader and all those at Caledonian an exciting future.”
Stephen’s news has been briefed to colleagues at the brewery and, whilst there was understandable disappointment to hear he will be leaving, it is business as usual in all respects.
