Yorkshire Brewery shines at Global Food & Drink Fair
Wharfe Bank Brewery, the award-winning producer of hand-crafted ales situated on the banks of the River Wharfe in the heart of Yorkshire, stole the show at the 2013 Anuga Food & Drink trade show in Cologne, Germany.
UK Trade & Investment invited Wharfe Bank Brewery to launch its new range of craft beers and exhibit at the world’s leading food fair from 5th – 9th October 2013. Leading importers, distributors and buyers from the domestic and international trade attended the 32nd bi-annual fair to obtain in-depth information about services and the products on display. Bringing a taste of Yorkshire to Germany, Wharfe Bank showcased their new and impressive range of beers: Yorkshire XPA (a 4.3% keg pilsner), and in bottles Tether Blond, CamFell Flame, plus their Yorkshire IPA, SPA and Stout. In competition with over 460 drink exhibitors, 139 of which from the UK, Wharfe Bank secured a raft of international sales enquiries from 12 different countries.
Martin Kellaway, managing director of Wharfe Bank Brewery states:-
“We were delighted to have the opportunity to exhibit at the Anuga fair alongside the world’s best in food and drink suppliers. We look forward to launching our export trade with the many interested, like-minded importers and distributors in the near future, with the aim to take our beers to Europe, Asia and the USA through selected partners.”
Just one of the high profile attendees to the fair was Owen Paterson (pictured), Conservative MP and Secretary of State for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, who enjoyed sampling Wharfe Bank’s collection.
Stephen Noblett, food and drink specialist for UKTI Yorkshire and the Humber, said:
“We can be justly proud of what we offer as a region in terms of quality food and drink, and Anuga was an excellent showcase for local companies like Wharfe Bank Brewery to demonstrate that they have what it takes to make an impact on the global stage.”
