Mix96 20th Anniversary Beer Name Competition – Winner Announced
‘Bucks Best’ Mix of Music
There must be something in the airwaves across Buckinghamshire as radio station Mix96 received the fantastic response of 212 entries to its ‘Name the Anniversary Beer’ competition with the Chiltern Brewery. After much deliberation the name ‘Bucks Best’ was chosen for its beer friendly tone and its connection with Mix96 playing ‘Bucks Best Mix of Music’.
Mix96, which celebrates its 20th birthday this spring wanted to mark the occasion in true style and teamed up with Buckinghamshire and The Chilterns oldest independent brewery, The Chiltern Brewery, to challenge its audience to name a special beer which will be sold in local pubs and at the Brewery’s Shop in Terrick near Wendover throughout April.
“This has been great fun and the response has been phenomenal” said Mix96 Managing Director Max Hailey. “Some of the entries were hilarious” added Tom Jenkinson, Head Brewer of The Chiltern Brewery, “and very imaginative. Local Bards have been in fine form!”
The lucky winner, Olivia Cowan of Speen, wins a fabulous tour of the Chiltern Brewery for two and a VIP invitation to the beer’s official launch on 1st April. Olivia was also delighted that 5p from every pint sold will be donated to the Mix96 charity of the year, Tiggywinkles wildlife hospital in Haddenham.
Bucks Best is going to be superb blend of two beers with an extra charge of hops to add complexity and character. It will be a dark chestnut beer 3.8% volume – perfect to raise a glass in celebration to 20 years of Mix96.
