60° North shortlisted for the the prestigious Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards
Lerwick Brewery’s flagship Pilsener lager 60° North has been confirmed as a finalist in the prestigious Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards’ Best Alcoholic Drink category.
Run in partnership with the Royal Highland and Agricultural Society of Scotland, the Awards have been recognising and rewarding the very best in Scottish food and drink for many years. Twenty one awards recognise excellence across retail, foodservice and business categories.
Graham Mercer, Distribution Manager, Lerwick Brewery, says: “60° North has been attracting a lot of attention recently from both reviewers and retailers and we are thrilled to be announced as a finalist in what is one of Scotland’s leading awards. Whilst the craft beer market is full of emerging dark beers, there are less locally-brewed Pilseners coming onto the market. We seem to have hit the nail on the head with 60° North. Drinkers are loving it and so are the experts – so hope that this translates to success for us at the Scotland Food & Drink Excellence Awards.”
The Scotland Food & Drink Awards promise to be the food-lovers’ event of the year and will take place on 22nd May. 60° North was shortlisted in one of 10 product awards that are largely judged on taste.
James Withers, Chief Executive of Scotland Food & Drink said: “These awards celebrate the best of Scottish food and drink products and businesses, recognising the quality of produce and excellence in a range of fields. Feedback from the judges was very positive and the standard of entries was high across the board. Entries have come from individuals, artisan producers and global brands reflecting the wide variety of our food and drink companies as well as their strengths and expertise. All play their part in the continued development and growth of the industry to a value of £16.5bn by 2017. The awards take place during an important year for Scotland and will only contribute to cementing Scotland’s deserved reputation as a Land of Food and Drink.”
