Bath Ales Strike Gold in Prestigious Independent Brewer Competition
Popular West Country brewer, Bath Ales, has won the top accolade for its Golden Hare beer at SIBA’s annual Tuckers Malting Beer Festival.
The awards are designed to showcase the very best products in the region with over 250 different beers on show at this year’s event.
Golden Hare fought off tough competition from The Liberation brewery and The Ramsbury brewery to claim the top prize – and head brewer Gerry Condell is delighted.
He said: “We’ve always known that Golden Hare is an exceptional ale, and now we have an award to prove it.
“This lightly coloured drink is brewed using floor-malted Maris Otter barley and the aptly named Goldings hops. Its fresh and zesty flavour makes it the perfect choice for spring time.”
The top scoring seasonal brew is available on draught across the South West for a limited period each year, but can be brought nationwide in bottle all year round nationwide at Waitrose & Sainsbury’s.
Robin Couling, managing director at Bath Ales, added: “SIBA is the voice of the independent brewing industry so it’s fantastic to have one of our beers recognised in this way by our peers.
“We only use the finest ingredients in our brewing process, which is reflected in the quality of our beers. Golden Hare has always been a very popular choice with our customers and I anticipate this award will encourage even more people to give it a try.”
