Dartmoor Brewery scoops top local business award
Dartmoor Brewery was awarded Small Business of the Year at the Herald Business Awards in Plymouth last night (Thursday 1st May).
The Princetown-based Brewery, famous for its Jail Ale, was the only drinks manufacturer to win at this year’s awards, which drew entries from more than 500 businesses across Plymouth and the surrounding area.
The accolade recognises what has been a successful year for Dartmoor Brewery, which revealed a complete re-brand in October 2013 alongside a new website and some ambitious future expansion plans.
It’s hero brand, Jail Ale, remains a firm favourite with real ale drinkers across Plymouth and Devon and has now broken into national markets, with its unique taste of Dartmoor finding favour across the South of England.
Dartmoor Brewery also recently secured a Bronze award in the Speciality Beer category for its speciality beer, Three Stout Hares, launched by folk legend Seth Lakeman in March this year, at the annual Tucker’s Maltings Festival.
Mike Lunney, head brewer, said: “It is a fantastic accolade to be recognised alongside some of the Plymouth’s most successful businesses and we are delighted to have been honoured with this prestigious award.
“This award really crowns what has been an incredibly exciting year for Dartmoor Brewery and is testimony to the team’s hard work increasing our sales growth both within the region and nationally and of course, continuing to produce the finest taste of Dartmoor which makes our beers so unique. We hope the award will be a springboard for future success as we now look to expand our premises and continue taking the true taste of Dartmoor further afield across the UK.”
Dartmoor Brewery, the highest brewery in England, has been brewing its famous beer including Jail Ale and Dartmoor IPA in the heart of Dartmoor National Park since 1994.
