Tesco Extends Butcombe Range to West Country Express Stores
Butcombe, the West Country’s fastest growing brewery will have its flagship ale Butcombe Bitter as well as Butcombe Gold listed in 90 Tesco Express stores and petrol forecourts from mid-July 2014. The stores are located from Plymouth to Swindon and Bournemouth to Cheltenham and are in addition to Butcombe beers already being available in approximately one hundred of Tesco’s largest stores in the region.
Chris Minter, Tesco Buying Manager, South of England, says:
“Tesco is committed to working with local and regional suppliers to give customers products from their own area. Butcombe Ales have already been selling extremely well in our larger stores, so we wanted to make them available to our customers in Express stores too.”
Martin Holland, Butcombe Brewery’s Off-Trade Sales Director, comments: “Tesco has given us the opportunity to reach the impulse purchaser through their popular express stores and petrol forecourts. We look forward to the positive sales impact this is likely to have on our brands.”
Butcombe Brewery’s off-trade sector has grown its retail presence each year and its bottled beer range can be found in approximately 600 supermarkets, convenience stores and off licences across the UK.
The Brewery has recently won a number of national awards including winning the ‘Food and Drink’ category at the Made in South West Awards 2013, and Butcombe is a finalist in the National 2014 Awards to be held this month. Butcombe has also recently been voted SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) Brewery Business of the Year 2014.
Butcombe’s core range of cask beers includes: Butcombe Bitter, Adam Henson’s Rare Breed Pale Ale and Butcombe Gold, as well as a range of seasonal beers.
