The Bakers Vaults celebrate a successful opening weekend
The Bakers Vaults, Stockport, are toasting to a bright future after a successful opening weekend that saw of people return to the historic pub.
The 18th century hostelry opened its doors to the public from lunchtime on Friday 11th July and was packed minutes later with many old and new faces returning to see the new look.
“We were amazed by the show of support from people and the pub was packed throughout the entire weekend” said Jamie Langrish, licensee of the Bakers Vaults. “Opening a pub, especially one that is so loved, is quite an arduous task but to see everyone’s hard work pay off was very gratifying. We’ve had nothing but positive feedback from everyone so far.”
The opening night saw the internationally acclaimed musician and composer Michael Cretu playing a mixture of musical styles from folk to jazz; putting to rest rumours that the Bakers Vaults would no longer feature live music.
Customers were able to enjoy the brand new range of guest cask ales that sit alongside Robinsons favourites such as Unicorn, Dizzy Blonde and Trooper. There was also an opportunity to sample the new menu of premium gourmet hot dogs made with the finest, locally sourced produce; a British twist on an American staple.
Jamie said: “We couldn’t have done it without our staff, who were really thrown in at the deep end. They did a fantastic job considering that apart from our bar manager, no one on the team had ever stepped behind a bar before. We have trained them from scratch and given them an opportunity and a skill that they can use throughout their careers. It’s a great feeling to be able to give back to the local community and help cultivate brand new talent for the hospitality industry. We can’t wait to see where this journey takes us all.”
