Brewery features in beer advent calendar at "world's best" department store
BEER from a Cumbrian brewery is being featured in an advent calendar with a difference that is due to go on sale at the world’s best department store.
The advent calendar has been developed by beer seller Best of British Beer, and features a different independently brewed beer behind each of its 25 doors.
Eden Brewery, which is based near Penrith, is the only Cumbrian brewer to feature in the calendar with its hoppy pale ale Antifreeze. Antifreeze is part of the brewery’s range of beers inspired by the film Withnail and I.
Only 1000 of the limited edition calendars have been made, which comprise a 105cm high, 40cm wide cardboard tree and star, 24 x 330 ml bottles, a special 500ml bottle for Christmas Day, serving suggestions for all the beers, and a festive quiz.
The calendar will be available in world famous London department store Selfridges from the end of September. Selfridges has been voted the “world’s best department store” on numerous occasions.
Brewer Jason Hill said: “It’s been a very busy year for us and it is madness that the countdown to Christmas already seems to be upon us. However, it’s been a really good year for the brewery and we’ve been able to expand our business and range of products.
“It’s really exciting to think that one of our Withnail beers is going to be on sale in Selfridges as part of this calendar. It is a really great name for our brewery to be associated with. There are some really delicious craft beers from around the UK in there and we are proud to be representing all the really talented and unique breweries in Cumbria.”
The beer advent calendar retails at £95 (including next day delivery) and is available from the Best of British Beer website: www.bestofbritishbeer.co.uk.
A £15 ‘Early Bird’ discount has been created for all orders placed before 31st October.
