Elgood’s Brewery Festival a ‘Smash Proof’ Success
Independent family-run regional brewer Elgoods, based in Wisbech, Cambridgeshire, hosted its popular beer festival in conjunction with SIBA East (Society of Independent Brewers) at the end of September 2014. The event coincided with Local Rapid Manufacturing Consultancy FRP launching its new Smash-Proof Pint Glass at the Festival. Working in partnership with the Directors at Elgood’s North Brink Brewery and Eastman Chemical Company, FRP’s Nick Osborn, who is a cousin of the Elgood family, finally realised a long-held dream of a proper Smash-Proof Pint Glass which was fit for purpose.
There were around 150 different beers to sample, mainly from the eastern region, including the brewery’s own award-winning Plum Porter. MP Steve Barclay joined the brewery’s three sisters, Managing Director, Belinda Sutton, Marketing Director, Claire Simpson; Jennifer Everall, Company Secretary with their father Nigel Elgood and head brewer Alan Pateman to officially open the festival, which also included folk, Irish and rock bands on Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights. Hundreds of people visited the brewery to sample the ales and view the beautiful four acre gardens that back onto the Brewery.
Belinda Sutton, managing director of Elgood’s Brewery said:
“It was great to see so many people visit the Brewery to support our Beer Festival. A big thank you to SIBA (Society of Independent Brewers) for choosing us to host their SIBA East Beer Competition 2014. Thanks to the Smash-Proof Pint Glass, visitors were able to wander anywhere around our four acres of grounds and gardens in complete safety and enjoy their beer wherever they wanted. We are really proud to be associated with new innovations like this, which improve safety for our customers without compromising their enjoyment of our beers.”
