Purity’s Longhorn IPA takes Gold at SIBA Competition
Purity Brewing Company raised a glass last Thursday night (27th November) as its Longhorn IPA won Gold in the Premium Bitters, Pale and Golden Ale Category at the SIBA North Keg Beer Competition. The prestigious award is now travelling back to the brewery in Warwickshire to proud head brewer Flo Vialan.
The 5% American style IPA, which was only launched in February, is full of character. It is brewed with Maris Otter, Rye, Crystal Rye and Caramalts to create a warming copper/orange colour. It is hopped with Northern Brewer, Chinook, Galaxy and Simcoe to create a balanced and hoppy IPA with citrus and tropical fruit tones, perfect for cutting through spicy foods or for pairing with ‘dirty’ burgers.
Longhorn, so called thanks to the cattle that feed on the spent grains, is available in 30L kegs and 330ml cans and can be purchased at the brewery shop in Great Alne near Stratford Upon Avon or online at http://www.puritybrewing.com and www.bottleshack.uk.
Paul Halsey, Managing Director of Purity, comments: “What a fantastic honour for Longhorn and all of us here at Purity. We also won the Silver award in the Overall Keg Champions of the Competition and these awards are such an amazing achievement. I am extremely proud that the beer has been recognised by SIBA. We have had fantastic feedback from our customers since we launched Longhorn and the awards are testament to the beer and the brew team here at Purity.”
Charlotte Gorham, SIBA Event Manager, comments: “Congratulations to Purity for winning an award in SIBA’s first ever North Region Keg Beer Competition. We look forward to seeing them at the National Final at BeerX in March 2015.”
